RU: Морские звёзды плотоядны и некоторые виды питаются бивальвиями, створки которых они раздвигают своими лучами, прилагая для этого немалые усилия. Затем через ротовое отверстие они выворачивают свой желудок внутрь раковины и переваривают несчастного моллюска на месте. Многие морские звёзды обладают невероятной способностью к регенерации, отращивая себе утраченные лучи или другие части тела. Морская звезда – комета (Linckia multifora)- настоящее чудо регенерации, она может размножаться даже неполовым путём, разделяясь на две части и отращивая к каждой половинке недостающие части тела. «Комета морской звезды есть не что иное, как отросшая на отломанном луче новая морская звезда.

EN: The arms of sea stars are stiff and the animals move slowly by gliding along using the hundreds of tube feet projecting from grooves under each arm. The mouth is on the bottom, in the center of the star. Some sea stars are strong enough to open oysters and mussels with the suction cups on their tube feet - then the stomach is inserted between the valves in order to ingest the mollusk.

GER: Seesterne haben in der Regel fünf steife Arme, einige wenige Arten haben mehr. Die Mundseite ist dem Boden zugekehrt. Auf hunderten von Saugfüßchen, die in Rillen auf der Unterseite jedes Armes liegen, bewegen sie sich langsam über den Meeresgrund. Diese entwickeln eine enorme Saugkraft; mit ihrer Hilfe können Seesterne sogar Muscheln öffnen. Zum Fressen wird der Magen oft ausgestülpt.

RU: Может достигать 10 см. Имеет чёткую окраску. Обитает на песке в лагунах, на твёрдом дне рифовых склонов на глубине от 1 до 30 м. Питается детритом и мелкими безпозвоночными.

EN: This sea star has flat, spineless arms. Large skeletal plates in the skin decrease the flexibility of the body, so they can’t bend much without breaking. They can reach up to 10cm in diameter and they have distinct coloration. They live on sand and coral rubble in lagoons and the hard bottom of the reef slope on the depth 1 - 30m. Found only at the Red Sea, they feed on detritus and small invertebrates.

GER: Dieser Seestern hat flache, stachellose Arme. Die granulierte Oberhaut enthält große Skelettplatten, welche die Elastizität des Körpers stark einschränken. Er bricht daher leicht auseinander, wenn man ihn zu stark biegt.

RU: Достигает 8 см, обитает только в Красном море. 5 центральных пятен могут отсутствовать. Возможны варианты окраски. Мужские особи превращаются в женские по мере взросления.

EN: Rows of light spots mark the granulated, flattened arms of this sea star. There are lots of variations in color and amazingly, the males change into females as they grow older.

GER: Er hat flache, stachellose Arme. Seine granulierte Körperfläche ist regelmäßig gepunktet. Mit zunehmendem Alter wandeln sich die Männchen in Weibchen um.
