Getting a bridge might seem like an attractive alternative considering the recovery time, but compromising two other teeth and making them more susceptible to cavities and periodontitis is a bigger risk in the future. Basically, there is no way to keep the teeth under the bridge clean enough to prevent them from rotting in the near future. It can take less than 3 years. An implant will last longer and be less expensive in the long run. A bridge may seem great at the time, the bridge will ruin 2 perfectly fine teeth, where as an implant does not, find one that will give you something to fill in the space while you heal and depending on the location and condition of the socket, you may not have to wait too long. The reason is simple, bridges are supported by the surrounding good teeth. Over time the load on these perfectly good teeth causes them to erode. Or you might have to shave down the other teeth in order to get the "bridge" done right. This is the worst aspect of the bridge. It weakens your other teeth now, ten years down the line you will be looking at fixing two more teeth. With Dental Implants the healing process is long and the cost is high but it is a permanent solution and the teeth function like normal teeth.
