 797 Old Hurghada Port 1

The first officially registered settlement in Hurghada goes back to 1905. At this time a part of the old port was already existing and alive.

Bedouin tribes with Arab origin came to Hurghada in the first half of the 19th century. Some of them were fishermen, who settled on the Hurghada coast because of its rich sea life. One of their preferred areas developed in the old port, where till now wooden boats are built and maintained the same way as did its ancestors for centuries.

Photographer Sherif Lotfy provided Red Sea Bulletin with these great impressions.
