On 20 May, his Excellency Michael Bock, the German Ambassador to Egypt, personally handed over the duties of the German Honorary Consul to Dr. Andreas Mueller, who has lived several years together with his wife Margret, in Hurghada. He studied philosophy and German philology at the University of Mannheim, and attained a doctorate of Philosophy and Theology. Mr. Andres Mueller worked as a reporter and editor-in-chief, is publisher of “Zukunft Beruf”, a professional journal for studies, education and human resources and is also a book author. Dipl. Phys. Peter-Juergen Ely retired from office after serving German citizens, residents and tourists alike, on the Red Sea for the last decade as the Honorary Consul of Germany. He and his wife Karin Ely became the center of the German community, helped countless people – not only Germans - who needed support, organized and took part in many events, and beside many other activities, installed a weekly gathering on the roof of their guest house “Living with Art”, which will continue every Thursday evening. It was also a special evening for Mr. Michael Bock and his wife Dagmar, as it was the last function of the ambassador in Egypt. The amiable couple left the next day to Berlin, and will relocate after a few weeks to Stockholm to serve Germany as the ambassador to Sweden. The enjoyable event was organized by Mrs. Karin Ely, who prepared together with the staff of her guest house “Living with Art”, a fantastic dinner buffet with open bar for the 170 invited guests. The Red Sea Bulletin would like to thank Mr. Peter Ely and his wife Karin for their passionate support of the German speaking community here on the Red Sea, and wishes Mr. Andreas Mueller best of luck and success in his responsible position as the new Honorary Consul of Germany.Address of the new German Consular Office:M 18, Said Sonbol Ibrahim St. / El Hilal, Hurghada, Red Sea, EgyptE-mail: hurghada@hk-diplo.de
