A great event took place on October 14th and 15th at TU Berlin Campus El Gouna. Technische Universität Berlin welcomed the 5th intake of students in the master's courses Energy Engineering, Urban Development and Water Engineering. 64 “freshers“ have been enrolled at TU Campus El Gouna. In the El Gouna Audimax short notes were given by Guests of Honor: • Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, Vice President for International Relations and Teacher  Education, TU Berlin • Samih Sawiris, Chairman Orascom Development Holding • Prof. Dr. Matthias Barjenbruch, Director TU Berlin Campus El Gouna • Noura Selim, Executive Director Sawiris Foundation for Social Development • Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, Head of DAAD Cairo • H.E. Julius Georg Luy, German Ambassador to Egypt • Major General Ahmed Abdallah, Red Sea Governor They all stated that the development of Campus El Gouna in the first four years is a real success story. Students' presentations followed with the topics „Studying in El Gouna and Berlin“, and „Alumni Club El Gouna“. The Alumni Club El Gouna has been founded by a number of graduates of all three master's courses and will focus its activities on networking among the graduates and with companies of the related branches. In the afternoon the program continued as in the years before with the 11th session of the Community Forum El Gouna 2030. This session was dedicated to the topic of „Water Sustainability and Entrepreneurship“. Prof. Schäfer, Study Dean of Urban Development and Moderator of the Community Forum, opened the session with the notion of “Urban Lab El Gouna” as new concept and label for the various research activities of Campus El Gouna related to El Gouna and the Red Sea Region. Teymour Hosny, Director of Marketing and Communications El Gouna, highlighted in his welcoming words the fruitful cooperation of TU Berlin with El Gouna community and the constructive role of the Community Forum. The Department of Water Engineering – Dr. Nokolaos Tzoupanis - and participants of the Third Summer Camp of “Youthinkgreen Egypt” presented different topics related to integrated water resource management and entrepreneurship in terms of El Gouna. These presentations were followed by a „Role Play: From Approach into Application“ conducted by Magued Youssef, Capacity Building Coach of the Summer Camp and Abdelrahman El Gammal, Chairman of Youthinkgreen Egypt. The intensely discussion with the audience was summed up by Prof. Schäfer: The proposals of Youthinkgreen Egypt should be developed further on for practical application, ideas of establishing startups in El Gouna should be elaborated. Community Forum once again has proved as an appropriate platform for communication and dialogue. The next Forum will take place in November with topics around „IT and Energy“. The Welcoming Day ended with a dinner in the beautiful Event Patio in Campus El Gouna. www.campus-elgouna.tu-berlin.de
